The fences are finally coming down!
Good things are worth waiting for. Better late than never. Those might be popular phrases for describing the 7-month journey to the official opening Snoqualmie’s newest community park and athletic complex.
But as of Friday, March 27, 2015, the fences that many thought might become a permanent fixture around large Jeanne Hansen Community Park, were finally coming down and the newest park was officially open for business.
Looks Finished, but Not Open
The 16-acre park in the Eagle Pointe neighborhood of Snoqualmie Ridge had its Grand Opening Ceremony in early September 2014, when the park was expected to open, but delays caused by ADA codes and grading issues kept the fences up and the park officially closed.
Many frustrated residents, though, bypassed those fences for the past 6 months, choosing to use the park regardless of its “closed” status.
Located on one of the highest peaks of Snoqualmie Ridge at 34226 SE Jacobia Street, Jeanne Hansen Community Park features the city’s first synthetic turf sports fields (two of them), one grass sports field, tennis court, two kids’ playgrounds, a soft surface nature trail, a big picnic shelter with three barbecues and a concession stand. In addition, the new park also features expansive views of Valley below.
Snoqualmie Valley soccer and lacrosse leagues finally have more practice space and nearby homeowners finally have their promised park – and it is a beautiful park so enjoy!
