Busy Couple of Days near North Bend | Auto Thieves Chased by Police, Flee into Woods; Vehicle Erupts in Fire

It’s been a busy couple of days on I-90 near exit 32 (436th Ave) in North Bend… first a large vehicle fire and then a police [and helicopter] chase.

On Thursday, June 4, 2015 right as Snoqualmie Police took a stabbing suspect into custody on the North Bend QFC rooftop, residents living near exit 32 reported hearing a loud explosion around 5:45PM, where witnesses say a truck hauling jet skis erupted into fire on eastbound I-90 – just before the exit off ramp.

The truck and trailer were both engulfed, leaving the roadside and a few nearby trees charred.

Then early Saturday, June 6th, around 3AM, area residents reported seeing speeding cars and hearing lots of sirens, followed by a low-flying helicopter circling the vicinity.  One resident also reported seeing a white [possibly an Audi] vehicle in the ditch, with multiple police officers surrounding it.

The Washington State Patrol and King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) Deputies chased a stolen vehicle into the North Bend area overnight, with the two suspects fleeing the car on foot and into the nearby woods.

KCSO Guardian One helicopter equipped with infrared technology was called in to help successfully locate the auto theft suspects.

You can see a video of that nighttime suspect search HERE.
