Approximately two weeks after accepting the resignation of its Chief Financial Officer, Nicholas Lee, the Snoqualmie City Council confirmed the appointment of former CFO Rob Orton as interim CFO at a special council meeting on November 7th.
Orton is coming out of retirement to fill the position while the city begins a possibly lengthy recruiting process for a new, permanent Chief Financial Officer. He was previously employed as the city’s CFO from November 2010 to November 2015.
When Lee announced his resignation in late October, he stated he would stay until the end of November before taking a new position as Finance Director for the King County Library System (KCLS). Mayor Larson, though, explained that KCLS had expressed an interest in Lee starting as soon as possible and Orton said he was available to start, so it worked out for both parties.
Mayor Larson commented, “We are pleased to have Rob return in this role. He is experienced with the City’s finances and budget process. We are delighted to have him back to provide a smooth transition.”
