ORIGINAL STORY
By Sunday afternoon, one Snoqualmie neighborhood was buzzing as a home on Linden Loop experienced a big Seahawks transformation – all for a Washington State Lottery commercial.
The home’s white trim and front door were painted bright Seahawks green and the garage door was decked out in Seahawks blue with a huge Hawks logo splashed across it.
Next door, a massive, retracting [almost] roof to ground 12th man flag was installed – all to set the stage for the new commercial featuring dueling neighbors trying to figure out who’s a better Seahawks fan.
The homeowners said they were approached last week when a film crew was in the neighborhood scouting for average-type suburban homes to be used as the setting for the commercial – some place where a typical Seahawks fan might live.
The estimated two-day shoot brought Seahawks Hall of Famers Steve Largent, Walter Jones and Cortez Kennedy to Snoqualmie to film their parts on Monday afternoon. Tuesday was expected to be mostly indoor filming according to neighbors.
Also in town was Taima [and handler], the longtime Seahawks live mascot, who is also featured in the spot. Outdoor scenes with Taima were filmed Monday afternoon and residents watching the action were asked to stay completely still whenever a scene with the famous bird was shot.
One of the homes used for the shoot was also entirely transformed on the inside, including moving all of the main floor furniture into storage and new Seahawks-inspired pieces brought in. Neighbors reported the homeowners were residing in their large trailer down the street until the shoot was complete… and that they turned down an offer for a hotel room in order to be close during filming.
On Monday Linden Loop Park was filled with spectators trying to catch a glimpse of the NFL Hall of Fame [former] Seahawks – and maybe to see just what goes into making those fun Lottery Commercials. One local mom called the film crew ‘great,’ saying they even allowed a few kids into the sound booth for some first-hand film experience.
This will be the third time in the past two years that the Lottery has filmed commercials in Snoqualmie. One commercial was made using a train from the Northwest Railway Museum; another used a race car in downtown Snoqualmie; and one other was shot at a home in the K North neighborhood of Snoqualmie Ridge.
Neighbors say the featured home will be repainted when filming is finished, but the Seahawks garage door may have to be completely replaced as chipping is an issue due the drastic color differences of the Seahawks blue and the home’s original light color.
Who knows. Maybe they should auction off that Seahawks garage door to someone who lives in a community not governed by CC&R’s like Snoqualmie Ridge. Any local Seahawks fan takers?? It really is a great paint job!
