The City is Snoqualmie is reminding residents of an opportunity to provide verbal comments on the proposed Snoqualmie Mill Site development Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS).
The city published the DEIS for public and state agency review and comment on April 27th. The legally required public comment period runs for 45 days, ending on June 11th.

Verbal comments on the DEIS will be taken at a virtual public meeting on Wednesday, May 20th beginning at 4PM. The city said a court reporter will transcribe the public meeting.
Written comments for the DEIS can be submitted at any time up to 11:59PM, June 11, 2020 and addressed to Mark Hofman, SEPA Responsible Official, City of Snoqualmie, PO Box 987, Snoqualmie, WA 98065. Comments may also be emailed to mhofman@snoqualmiewa.gov or MillSiteEIS@snoqualmiewa.gov.
The city explained that both written and oral comments will be addressed in the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS), and copies of written comments and a transcript of the virtual public meeting will be included in that FEIS.
Due to Governor Inslee’s Stay Home, Stay Healthy order of March 23, 2020, the public meeting on May 20th will be taken at a remote online meeting rather than in person.
The meeting can be attended via webinar or by phone. Meeting access information is posted on the City website at bit.ly/MillPublicComment.
The city said it would not delay the DEIS public comment review period due to the state’s current stay home order.
Via email Snoqualmie Community Development Director Mark Hofman said the city is not in a position to pull back from a DEIS that has already been issued or delay the review period.
Hofman stated, “Most land use applications – including environmental review associated with the applications — are subject to legally-required processing deadlines that require City review and action within a specified time. For environmental impact statements, the Snoqualmie Municipal Code (19.04.080(C)) requires completion of a draft EIS within 180 days, unless the applicant and City agree in writing to a longer time. The DEIS for the Snoqualmie Mill proposal has been in preparation for some time…and there is no applicant-City agreement to an additional time extension.”

I sent in a response regarding the Mill site and a fundraiser citizens have formed on May 19th. I was never contacted by your blog to verify my post. Needless to say it was never posted. Why?
I am also noticing the multiple residents that spoke out in opposition to this development have had there comments removed. Why? Citizens deserve a chance to speak their mind. Isn’t that what your blog is about? Please post the citizen comments that have been removed. I can provide them to you if needed. Thank you.
