The Washington State Department of Transportation said an early morning collision on westbound I-90, just east of exit 31 (SR 202) near downtown North Bend, had all lanes blocked.
WSDOT reported the accident and lane closures around 5:15AM, September 10, 2016. Traffic was being diverted off of I-90 at exit 32, with a detour in place from 436th Ave through downtown North Bend to SR 202 and then back onto I-90.
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) said the accident involved one vehicle and a fatality. Fire and aid crews, the WSDOT Incident Response Team and the State Patrol all responded to the scene.
According to WSP, the accident happened shortly before 5AM when the driver veered to the left, over-corrected and then hit the guardrail. The driver was deceased at the scene. There were no passengers in the car and no other vehicles were involved. The posted speed limit is 70mph on this stretch of I-90.
At 8:15AM, WSP said two lanes should re-open around 8:30AM. The third lane will remain closed for several hours in order to repair the heavily damage guardrail.
