The newest building of the Eastside’s premier center for pediatric therapy, early learning, and family enrichment officially opened its doors earlier this week, just a year after construction began at its 384th Avenue SE site.
Staff at the brand-new Child-Development Center welcomed children and families with smiles and excitement on Monday, thrilled to continue providing top-tier services to their clients and students at their newest location.
The facility showcases such child-centered elements as dimmable classroom lights that can change hues as desired, a therapy room with a special swing to help kids feel regulated and safe, and a dedicated garden path lined with flora and features that engage a range of sensory experiences.
“Every room of this building is purpose-built,” said Megan Walsh, Encompass Behavioral Health Manager. “It’s more than a clinic. It is built with our families and clients in mind.”
Encompass Board Member Tavish MacLean, who served as President during the center’s construction, seconded the significance of the building’s opening. “The Child Development Center represents a reinvigoration of our mission in the community and enhances our ability to serve kids and families, with amazing new facilities and therapy rooms.” He added, “We hope it will be an inspiring environment not just for them, but for staff as well.”
In addition to incorporating state-of-the-art pediatric therapy and early learning features, the building’s design and construction meet the rigorous standards necessary to achieve LEED Silver certification, aligning the Encompass mission of serving families and children with a commitment to sustainability as well.
The facility is located at the corner of 384th Avenue SE and SE Kimball Creek Drive in Snoqualmie. Encompass will host an official ribbon-cutting and open house on August 19, open to the public to celebrate the new building.
