The annual Festival at Mount Si, which honors the North Bend community, begins today, August 9, 2013 at 5PM at Si View Park and runs all weekend. The three-day event is always packed with fun and showcases some amazing community spirit.
Admission is free. There’s lots of shopping with local arts and crafts vendors; tons of food; plenty of kids’ activities; a beer garden sponsored by the local
Rotary Club; and weekend-long live music on two stages, including jazz, blues, rock, country. Full music schedule here.
Saturday, August 10th, features the annual kiddie parade and Festival at Mount Si Grand Parade, which hit the streets of downtown North Bend just after 10AM. The afternoon features classic, county fair-type contests like a cherry pie eating contest and a blueberry dessert contest. The night is capped off by a fireworks display with Mount Si as the backdrop.
Sunday, August 11th, starts early with the 25th Annual Tour de Peaks bike ride, which starts and finishes in downtown North Bend this year. Bikers can choose from three routes, a 25, 50 or 100 miles, which will take them through the scenic Snoqualmie Valley. A new chili cook off winner will also be crowned Sunday afternoon. The contest starts at 2PM.
The City of North Bend says the large number of visitors for the Festival and Tour de Peaks is expected to impact traffic. As a result, there may be congestion and delays traveling through North Bend over the weekend. Street parking is available throughout North Bend and limited handicapped parking at festival site. Downtown North Bend street closures will occur Saturday and Sunday for the parade and Tour de Peak start/finish.
The festival planning committee worked tirelessly to bring the community a great event. It should be a fun weekend.
