Fire Blotter | 3-day search for drowning victim; firefighters perform ‘pit stop’; too many Tums

June 11th

At 7:10AM Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a 54-year-old female experiencing stroke symptoms. She was examined and transported to local hospital.

June 14th

At 6:50PM Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a smell of smoke in an area of unincorporated King County. Firefighters located the residence smoke was coming from. Homeowner was burning recently cut limbs and tree trunks. Crews informed the homeowner that there had been a complaint lodged. The burn pile was too large and needed to be extinguished. The homeowner complied.

June 15th

Around 5:40AM Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched to a possible Ridge business fire alarm. On arrival, firefighters were met by the Police Department who stated an alarm was going off and the believed it was fire related. The alarm turned out to be a burglar alarm set off by a staff member entering the building to work out – non-fire/smoke related.

June 16th

At 2:35AM Snoqualmie Firefighters assisted other Eastside units in the extraction of patients from a two-vehicle accident on westbound I-90. The patients were transported to Harborview Medical Center.

Around 8:30AM Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched with other Eastside units for a second motor vehicle accident on I-90 – two vehicles with a semi-trailer on fire. Firefighters assisted with fire attack and water supply. They cleared the scene once the fire was under control.

Around 9:30AM Snoqualmie Deputy Fire Chief assisted Eastside Fire & Rescue with a vehicle fire on SR 202 between Snoqualmie and North Bend. Deputy Chief responded due to delay of units from outside of area, and closest units were on other calls. He arrived on scene and found fully a involved car fire. A witness stated driver of the vehicle left the scene in another car. EFR units arrived on scene, took command and extinguished the fire.

June 17th

Around 9:45AM Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a fire alarm at a local gas station. Firefighters arrived on scene to find no smoke or issues. The clerk stated he silenced alarm prior to unit arrival. Firefighters contacted the store owner to confirm maintenance on panel was performed, as crews had been to the location multiple times for a system malfunction. Crews reset the alarm and suggested an alarm tech company revisit site.

June 18th

Around 8PM Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched to an automatic fire alarm at the Echo Glen Children’s Center. It was determined the alarm was false and the system was reset.

Around 9PM, while returning from a previous call, Snoqualmie Firefighters stopped to assist a disabled motorist that had been stuck for approximately 3 hours. It was determined the vehicle had a flat tire, and the owner was unable to get AAA to respond and had no other way to get their tire changed. With the help of some auto extrication equipment, firefighters performed a “pit stop,” changing the tire and getting the motorist back on the road.

June 19th

At 12:30PM Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a call for a 3.5 year-old-male who had reportedly eaten 4 or 5 Tums antacids. Personnel evaluated the patient who appeared to be in no distress or pain, and who did not appear to be sick. Crews left the boy at home with his caregiver and aftercare instructions to follow up if he started feeling sick.

Around 5:15PM truck A-155 responded to Echo Glenn Children’s Center for a report of a 16-year-old male with breathing difficulty. The patient was known to have a peanut allergy, but was reported to not have had anything with peanuts in it. He was transported to Seattle Children’s Hospital.

June 21st

Around 4PM Snoqualmie Firefighters, along with numerous other Eastside units, conducted a search for a drowning victim in the lower Snoqualmie Falls area. Nothing found.

June 22nd

At 8:10AM Snoqualmie Firefighters, along with other Eastside units, were dispatched to I-90 at mile post 42 for a single motor vehicle accident. Crews assisted with traffic control.

Around 10:15AM Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched to a single-family home with CO detector alarm sounding. Crews used a gas meter to determine no harmful odors were present. It was recommended the homeowner replace CO detector due to age.

Around 1:30PM Snoqualmie Firefighters were requested by Fall City Fire to help in search of drowning victim from previous day. Crew assisted in grid search patterns along Snoqualmie River lower falls. Nothing was found.

June 23rd

Around 9:30AM Snoqualmie Firefighters assisted other units, including King County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit, for day three of recovery operations, trying to locate the drowning victim from Sunday afternoon. Firefighters provided manpower to assist with hasty searches and upstream safety for the dive team that was working in the water. The victim was recovered by KCSO divers with assistance of crews already in the water.

June 24th

Around 4:45AM truck E-155 responded with other units for a reported two vehicle collision with entrapment on Issaquah-Hobart Rd. Upon arrival, crews assisted with the vehicle extrication of the entrapped male driver.

Around 6:30PM Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to an activated fire alarm in a private residence. Crews arrived on scene to see nothing showing. The homeowner advised that smoke was from the stove, and there was no fire. The alarm company had been notified the alarm was false, but information was never passed on to responding units. The system was reset.

[In addition to the above calls, Snoqualmie EMTs responded to 12 medical aid incidents bringing the total number of calls to 476 for 2020.]
