Fire Blotter | Car rolls off SR 18; ditch issues on I-90; no campfires under power lines; heart trouble while shopping

Here are a few of the calls the Snoqualmie Fire Department responded to during the past two weeks:

April 12th

Around 1:15am, Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a single-car motor vehicle accident involving a 29-year old male. The patient was out of the car and with King County Sheriffs Officers upon arrival. He was alert and oriented. Nothing abnormal was found upon his exam so he was left with KCSO.

April 14th

Around 6:50AM, Snoqualmie Firefighters aid-car was returning from transporting a patient to Issaquah when they noticed a car off the roadway in the ditch on I-90. The unit checked the people in the car for injuries and called Washington State Patrol. There were no injuries discovered and the unit left the scene upon Washington State Patrol’s arrival.

Around 10:20PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters assisted a patient who had fallen and was unable to get up. The patient was uninjured and firefighters assisted her to her home.

April 15th

Around 6:20PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters dispatched to a two-car motor vehicle accident on I-90. There was moderate damage to the vehicles. The firefighters assisted other Eastside units who were already on the scene with caring for/transporting patients to Swedish Medical Center in Issaquah.

April 19th

Around 7:10PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters and other Eastside units dispatched to a reported wild land fire west of Highway 18 at Raging River. When they arrived they found a light smoke layer under the power lines. Firefighters accessed the ravine under the power lines on foot and found two men who had set up a tent and made a small camp fire. They advised the men that no burning was allowed in the area.

Around 9:25PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters were dispatched, alongside the Snoqualmie Police Department, to a welfare check from a third-hand report of a possible hyperglycemic patient. The units arrived to find no one at the residence.

 

April 20th

Around 5:00PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters were on the scene of a car driven into a ditch off of I-90. The patients refused medical treatment and left with State Patrol.

April 21st

Around 4:45PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters assisted other Eastside units in extracting and transporting a patient from his car, which had rolled down an embankment off of Highway 18.

April 23rd

Around 4:30PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a reported gas leak. Puget Sound Energy was notified and nothing was found.

Around 4:35PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters assisted Fall City units handle a patient experiencing heart trouble at Safeway. The patient was transported to Snoqualmie Valley Hospital.

April 24th

Around 2:45AM, Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a 73-year old man experiencing breathing difficulties. The patient was transported to Swedish Hospital in Issaquah.

Around 5:30PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters assisted a handicapped 48-year-old woman who had fallen trying to move from the couch to her wheel chair. Firefighters assisted the patient into the wheel chair. She was uninjured and left her in the care of her mother.

Around 7:15PM, Snoqualmie Firefighters responded to a report of an oven fire. There was nothing seen on arrival. The investigation revealed a malfunction with the upper level of a double oven. A piece appeared to be broken and have created smoke. The occupants of the home were advised not to use the oven until getting it serviced and repaired.

 

[In addition to the above calls, Snoqualmie EMTs responded to 16 medical aid incidents, bringing the total number of calls to date to 300.]
