Due to the resignation of Rick Rudometkin to relocate, Mayor Matt Larson has appointed Snoqualmie Fire Chief Mark Correira as the interim city administrator. The city council confirmed the appointment unanimously on March 8, 2021.
Beginning March 15 and for a period of at least three months, Chief Correira will oversee the management of city departments, working with department directors for sound and effective operations. His service will occur during the city’s recruitment of a permanent city administrator.
Mayor Larson stated, “I have full confidence Mark has the leadership qualities needed to perform the role of interim city administrator. He has served as the fire chief for seven years, building strong relationships with city directors and has the complete trust of the city council. Mark has a solid understanding of department goals, resources, and challenges, making him an ideal choice to lead city administration at this time.
“As well, Mark can keep the ship steady as we plan a safe return to work. City facilities have, for the most part, been closed to the public for nearly a year to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. As we move toward phase 3 of Governor Inslee’s pandemic recovery efforts, Mark’s in-depth knowledge of Covid-19 will ensure the continuing safety of our employees, elected officials, and those we serve while returning to full capacity.”
Mark Correira has served the City of Snoqualmie as Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Management for 7 years, with 29 years in the fire service. He has a bachelor’s degree in Fire Safety and Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program, and a graduate of the Emergency Management Institute’s Advanced Leadership Academy.
