First Candidate Throws Hat into Ring for Newly Formed Snoqualmie School Board Seat

Well, it happened.  Someone from the new Snoqualmie school board director district has officially thrown their hat into the ring.  Earlier today, May 2, 2013, through a press release, Tavish MacLean announced his candidacy.

A Snoqualmie father of three, Tavish MacLean, hopes to lend his experience and talents to the local community as a member of the Snoqualmie Valley School District Board of Directors. tavishmaclean

MacLean,  a Director of Product Management at T-Mobile, has extensive career experience in budget management, strategic plan development and driving consensus across business functions. His objective as a school board member is to leverage that experience to continue the district’s track record of improving the high-quality education of Snoqualmie Valley children. MacLean is aware of the challenges in managing district growth, but remains optimistic.

“The good news is that the school board has several ideas on the table and many passionate people who aren’t afraid to contribute to the discussion,” said Mr. MacLean.” If elected to the school board, I am committed to hearing out the options, facilitate the pros and cons, establish how the decisions are made and to honor the process and the outcome.”

MacLean holds advanced degrees from Cornell and the College of Europe.  Adding to his real life experience, along with his wife Rebecca, he navigates three kids on three different paths of activities, all of whom are soon to be in different schools.  He feels this valuable experience gives him a barometer for what the Snoqualmie Valley School District needs and what it can become. An active member of the community, MacLean was recently awarded Cub Master of the Year.

MacLean is the first to declare his candidacy for the open seat representing newly formed Snoqualmie District 1.  District 1 covers all of historic Snoqualmie, unincorporated portions of Snoqualmie, as well as neighborhoods on Snoqualmie Ridge.  All Snoqualmie Valley voters will vote to elect a representative from the newly formed district this November
