After nearly two years of canceled or modified public celebrations, communities are welcoming back a variety of cherished event traditions this summer.
Free community events foster community pride and engagement in North Bend, and here are a few of them, open to everyone, with no pre-registration requirements:
North Bend Farmers Market opens for the season on Thursday, June 9th. Si View Metropolitan Parks invites everyone to enjoy a selection of seasonal, locally grown food and meet the farmers who grow it.
Their vendor mix will include fresh produce, berries, honey, flowers, and botanicals, baked goods and specialty items, prepared foods and various handcrafted goods. SNAP, WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers will be accepted at the market.
Live summer concerts will be held at the Si View Park picnic shelter in tandem with the Farmers Market, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., along with local, non-profit community booths. Summer Movie Matinees return this summer, beginning Thursday, June 23rd. The North Bend Theatre and Si View Metropolitan Parks bring free, family-friendly summertime movie matinees back to town.
Free matinees will be offered weekly through August 26th at the North Bend Theatre at 125 Bendigo Boulevard North. Visit www.northbendtheatre.com and watch for the series schedule release.
Story Walks begin in community parks in North Bend on Sunday, July 10th. Si View Metropolitan Parks and King County Library System (KCLS) invite people of all ages to stroll through parks while enjoying illustrated temporary storyboards along the park paths. There will be a designated starting point for each story path.

The Downtown Block Party returns to North Bend on Saturday, July 16th. After a two-year hiatus, the North Bend Downtown Foundation and the City of North Bend are bringing the Downtown Block Party back.
The Block Party incorporates music, performances, local businesses and artists, non-profit organizations and more into one full day of community activities.
This summer’s festival will include a kid zone, a vendor fair, a beer and wine garden and a full line-up of local and regional musicians and community performances. Always the third Saturday in July, Block Party will run from noon to 11:00 p.m., with the headlining performance, Hell’s Belles, beginning at 9:30 p.m. Learn more about the festival HERE.
Block Party is located in the Historic District of Downtown North Bend, between Ballarat Avenue and Bendigo Boulevard.
The Festival at Mt. Si returns to North Bend on August 13th and 14th. Though it has had many names over the years, the Festival at Mt. Si is a longtime tradition in North Bend, and it is making a comeback this summer.
The festival will include music, food, a beer garden and more look for details and volunteer opportunities by visiting www.festivalatmtsi.org. Always the second weekend in August, the Festival at Mt. Si is located at Si View Park, 400 SE Orchard Place.
