Soon there will no difference in road conditions when you cross Boalch Ave into the North Bend city limits. The City of Snoqualmie re-paved their portion of the road that crosses between the two cities a few years ago. The North Bend portion of Boalch Ave NW has been a priority due to numerous areas of missing pavement layers and bumpy conditions.
North Bend Public Works Director, Ron Garrow, reports the first two projects funded by North Bend’s Transportation Benefit District (TBD) dollars are happening this month. Those projects, Boalch & Pickett Avenues, have long been identified as the two highest priority streets in need of reconstruction within the City of North Bend.
The Boalch Avenue project is currently underway and expected to be completed within the next three weeks. Boalch Ave road closures are happening between the Snoqualmie city limit line and 14th Street NW on weekdays and the weekend of September 29th & 30th. During construction, access to businesses along Boalch Ave is from Highway 202 at 14th Street. One lane is open during re-paving work for business access, but residents are warned to allow extra time.
The Pickett Avenue NW project is anticipated to begin next week, with notices having gone out to affected property owners.
“We wish to again thank North Bend citizens who voted to approve the Transportation Benefit District”, said Mayor Ken Hearing, “We look forward to the completion of many future infrastructure improvements thanks to funding provided by the TBD.”
