It’s that time of year again. Either your doorbell rings for door to door service or you encounter the girls in red vests entering your local grocery store. Campfire Girls are out in full force in hopes of enticing you with their candy selections!
The annual Camp Fire USA Candy Sale Fundraiser is underway through February 21st. Candy selections this year include the old classics, Thin Mints and Almond Roca, as
well as Almond Caramel Clusters and P-Nuttles. Boxes sell for $5 each.
If you want to support your local Camp Fire Girl Troops, but don’t need the candy you can also support Operation Homefront. Through Operation Homefront you can buy a box of candy and donate it to families who have a deployed military parent.
The Camp Fire Candy Sale is the major fundraiser for the long-time organization. One local Camp Fire troop composed of kindergarten and 1st graders used the candy sale to learn important goal setting, public speaking and money handling skills. The group spent time learning how to sell, accepting no graciously and counting money through role-playing. They also learned the importance of safety and strangers before heading out to sell candy. A portion of the sale proceeds support individual troops in addition to helping families cover costs of Camp Fire activities and camps.
