In preparation for a 2011 King County Budget that will include $60 million in cuts, the chair of the Metropolitan King County 
Council’s Budget Leadership team is encouraging the public to get involved by attending one of the Budget Committee’s four public hearings. The third in the series of four public hearings happens tonight, October 12th, at Mt. Si High School, 8651 Meadowbrook Way SE, Snoqualmie, WA.
$60 in budget cuts means some programs and services King County residents depend on could be eliminated. An overflow audience of 125 people filled Bellevue City Council Chambers last week hoping to restore human services funding to the 2011 budget. More than 50 people testified on budget issues ranging from programs that help our youth and seniors to ones that ensure the accused continue to have public defense access.
During the first two special budget meetings over 100 people testified on their budget priorities. Councilwoman Julia Patterson says the committee needs to hear what services the public values, their money saving ideas and how to do more with less.
