Travelers who use State Route 202 in Fall City and State Route 203 in Carnation should prepare for daytime single-lane closures May 15-19.
Contractors working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will survey land and perform geotechnical work ahead of a project to improve fish passages.
Crews will reduce traffic on both highways to a single lane with alternating traffic between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Flaggers will guide travelers through the work zone.
Fall City – SR 202 closure information
- From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, May 15, to Wednesday, May 17, crews will reduce traffic to a single lane on SR 202 at Southeast Fish Hatchery Road.
Carnation – SR 203 closure information
- From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, to Friday, May 19, crews will reduce traffic to a single lane on SR 203 at 324th Way Northeast.
This work is necessary to remove barrier culverts in creeks beneath the highways, improving fish passage and reconnecting waterways. Construction begins soon for multiple fish passage projects in King County, which will be complete by fall 2026.
