According to Snoqualmie Valley School District Technology Coach Janice Wintermyer, the district – as part of its new One-to-One Computing Initiative – recently checked out almost 2,400 laptop computers to students at Mount Si High School and Snoqualmie Middle School, with another 1,400 devices on the way for students at Two Rivers, Twin Falls, Chief Kanim and the Parent Partnership Program in the coming weeks.
These computers are for use at school and at home and were funded by the district’s 2018 technology levy. As a result, the way kids study and do schoolwork is changing. So the Snoqualmie Valley School District recently announced a new partnership with local businesses who have volunteered to offer Student Study Spots during their business hours.
The district has been reaching out to local businesses with WiFi who want to show their support for students and help those who may need a space to study.
Student Study Spots offer kids options if they don’t have internet access at home; if studying at home can be distracting; if they need to work with a partner and meeting outside a house is better; or if they just want a different location to study besides school and home.
To welcome students, participating businesses will display the below flyer near their front entrance.
