3-pointers propel Mount Si to Boys 4A State Championship Game

UPDATE | MARCH 2nd: Wildcats advance to WIAA 4A State Championship Game! On Friday afternoon, Mount Si defeated #7 Curtis – 53-46 – for a chance at the 4A state title. They play #2 Gonzaga Prep in the championship game, Saturday, March 2nd at 9PM.

The difference in the game proved to be shooting, with Mount Si making over 50% of outside shots, including an amazing 9-18 from outside the 3-point line. Curtis was only able to make about 35% of shots.

Tyler Patterson and Jonny Barrett each finished with 12 points, all of Barrett’s points were 3-pointers. Brett Williams finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds.

The boys had a big crowd cheering them on, with the school filling two rooter buses for the trip to the Tacoma Dome.

ORIGINAL STORY

A nearly perfect season keeps on rolling for the Mount Si Boys Basketball program, as the team won a tightly contested state quarter final game against #11 Puyallup High School, early Thursday morning at the Tacoma Dome. The final score was 45-40.

The #4 ranked Mount Si Wildcats will face #7 Curtis High School – which upset #1 seeded Union High School 58-55 – in a semi final game Friday, March 1st at 3:45PM back at the Tacoma Dome.

In the victory over Puyallup, Bennett O’Connor finished with 13 points and 3 assists. Jabe Mullins had 13 points and 3 steals. Mount Si is now 25-2 on the season, with its last loss more than two months ago in Arizona at the Holiday Hoops Tournament.

Team members got a special send off – and police escort – out of Snoqualmie Wednesday afternoon as they headed off to Tacoma… and supporters packed the Tacoma Dome for the 9AM game.
