Snoqualmie Valley Schools Superintendent, Joel Aune, announced at the July 9, 2014, school board meeting that Mount Si High School had made it onto U.S. News and World Report’s Best High Schools in the Country list for the second straight year.
According to a district announcement, “The report recognizes the highest performing public schools in the nation and is based on 
the magazine’s annual review of math, reading and college readiness data of thousands of schools across the country.”
Aune explained that there are approximately 20,000 high schools reviewed nationwide, with the list recognizing 1,600 high schools, which puts Mount Si in the top 10% of high schools.
In addition to earning a national and state ranking, Mount Si High School was also awarded a 2014 Silver Medal by U.S. News, which it was also received in 2013.
U.S. News awarded schools gold, silver or bronze medals based on their state assessment performance and how well students are prepared for college. Only schools that are gold or silver medal winners, though, receive a ranking.
According to the SVSD announcement, in Washington 9 gold medals, 46 silver medals, and 78 bronze medals were given to 408 high schools reviewed. Nationwide, the top 500 schools earned gold medals, the next 1,519 schools (including Mount Si) were awarded silver medals. Additionally, another 2,688 schools earned bronze medals.
Mount Si High School was ranked 1,594th out of 19,400 schools reviewed by U.S. News & World Report in 2014. In 2013, it ranked 1,349th out of 21,035 schools reviewed.
