Seattle Pacific University is a small, tight-knit school with multiple Mount Si High School graduates in attendance.
After a shooter shocked the small campus by opening fire in Otto Miller Hall Thursday, June 5, 2014, the name of one of the critically injured victims was released by friends and showed up in news stories. Those stories said the victim was also 22-years old.
That name, Sarah Williams, also happens to be the name of a 2010 Mount Si graduate and North Bend native who attends Seattle Pacific University.
Friday, June 6th, Harborview Medical Center Spokesperson, Susan Gregg, stated in a morning press conference, though, that the female shooting victim who remains in critical condition in the ICU is actually 19-years old.
Mount Si graduate Sarah Williams reached out to friends via social media late Thursday night to let them know she was fine and that it was a different SPU student named Sarah Williams who was in the hospital. She asked friends and family to pray for the young woman with whom she shares a name.
SPU students are credited for detaining the shooter until police could arrive. Sadly, one student died as a result of his injury. Two students remain hospitalized at Harborview Medical Center – a 19-year old female in critical condition and a 24-year old male in satisfactory condition.
