North Bend seeks Citizen of the Year Nominations; Coffee with a Cop comes to Trail Youth Coffee House

2018 Citizen of the Year Award Nominations Open

The City of North Bend is seeking nominations for this year’s Citizen of the Year. The award is given annually to an individual or business that has gone above and beyond to make North Bend a better place to live, through professional or volunteer efforts, or by an extraordinary contribution to the community.

“We want to honor those who have shown, through their initiative and actions, that they truly care about the community,” said Mayor Ken Hearing.

The prestigious award is awarded annually to people and businesses whose hard work, spirit and dedication make our community great.  This year’s winner will be announced at a Council Meeting in the new year.

To make a nomination, send a letter detailing what the person or business has done for the community and why they deserve the award by Friday, December 21st, 2018.  Please include daytime telephone numbers for yourself and the nominee.

Nominations should be directed to the attention of City Administrator Londi Lindell. They can be sent by email to llindell@northbendwa.gov, by regular mail to City of North Bend, P.O. Box 896, 211 Main Ave. N., North Bend, WA 98045; or dropped off in person at City Hall.

Coffee with a Cop

The community is invited to join  the Snoqualmie Police Department, Washington State Patrol and other local law enforcement for Coffee with a Cop on Friday, November 16th from 9AM to 11AM at The Trail Youth Coffee at 226 SE North Bend Way in North Bend.

Coffee with a Cop gives community members an opportunity to discuss concerns or engage in friendly conversation in an effort to improve trust and build relationships.

“It is a great opportunity for us to talk with community members in a comfortable setting and be able to discuss concerns and ideas that will make us better able to serve the community,” said Snoqualmie Police Chief Perry Phipps.

The key to Coffee with a Cop’s success is that it opens the door for interactions outside of the crisis situations that typically bring law enforcement officers and community members together.
