It’s been over a week since a Jay Berry’s employee was attacked as she left work Sunday night, March 9th. Police are still actively investigating the stabbing and sexual assault.
Wednesday, March 12th, in an update to the community, Snoqualmie Police said they had conducted extensive interviews with businesses in the North Bend Mountain Valley Shopping Center, as well as those at the nearby Outlet Mall adjacent I-90 exit 31, as part of the investigation.
In response to the crime, more high-profile police patrols were added to the North Bend area, as well as an extra officer to the overnight shift through Sunday, March 16th.
There has been no announcement yet stating that the suspect has been caught. But on Monday, March 17th, Snoqualmie/North Bend Police Chief, Steve McCulley, said progress is being made, but could not elaborate on details as the crime is still under active investigation.
Meanwhile, friends of the victim continue fundraising to provide financial support for their friend, wanting her to take time off work as she heals – and to help with medical costs.
In six days, the online fund has raised nearly $7,000 toward its $20,000 goal. A bank account for the victim was also established at Opus Bank and donation boxes were placed at Jay Berry’s, The Pour House Bar & Grill, Mt Si Pub and the Riverside Tavern over the weekend.
Fundraiser organizers are also bringing a woman’s self-defense class to the Snoqualmie Valley on April 5th. STAND Survival & Defense will teach the class – a time and location is still being determined.
