UPDATE: The tree clearing work scheduled overnight has been changed to daytime hours, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, Feb. 13 and tomorrow, Feb. 14.
Drivers using State Route 18 should plan more time for their travels as crews shift traffic and close lanes south of Interstate 90 near Deep Creek and Raging River.
Crews will work along the shoulder of westbound SR 18, so people should slow down and plan for delays:
- From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, Monday, Feb. 13, and Tuesday, Feb. 14, when drilling crews will close the westbound truck climbing lane for soil exploration.
- From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, Monday, Feb. 13, and Tuesday, Feb. 14, crews will shift traffic lanes to make room for tree clearing.
This work is connected to the I-90/SR 18 Interchange Improvements and Widening project and will improve safety, traffic flow and commute time along the busy corridor. In addition to building a new diverging diamond interchange, contractor crews will widen the highway to two lanes in each direction between I-90 and Deep Creek, two miles south.
When the project is complete in 2025, workers will plant 14,000 new trees in the project area and 3,040 trees between Issaquah and North Bend along I-90. Approximately 400 felled trees will be used in area streams to improve fish and wildlife habitat.
