If you saw or heard helicopters over the Snoqualmie River Wednesday afternoon, October 19th – or saw people in the Snoqualmie River, don’t fret. What you saw was training.
The King County Sheriff’s Office shared via Twitter that helicopter and marine unit training was occurring. Several drills happened on the Snoqualmie River – river and flood-related rescue drills – as part of a ‘Take Winter by Storm’ training day.
Both the KCSO Marine Rescue Unit and the KCSO Air Support Unit participated in the training drills and invited local TV news crews to observe. Both rescue units are in jeopardy of being cut due to King County budgetary issues.
One of the drills included simulating a sunken car in the river and rescuing the occupants who were stranded atop the submerged vehicle.
