The City of Snoqualmie is asking for residents’ assistance to identify potential sidewalk trip hazards for inclusion in the City’s 2023 Sidewalk Repair and Replacement Project.
The Public Works Department is preparing to request contractor bids for the 2023 Sidewalk Repair and Replacement Project. As such, and to optimize contract planning, the City is working to identify sidewalks in need of repair prior to requesting project bids.
If you notice a potential trip hazard located within the city limits, please fill out and submit this online Sidewalk Repair Program – Trip Hazard Location Form, which will automatically be routed to the Public Works Department. Submissions are due by Jan. 31, 2023.
Public Works Director Mike Chambless said, “We appreciate the ongoing help of Snoqualmie residents, who have reported numerous potential trip hazards using our online Trip Hazard Location form. It’s an easy reporting tool that allows us to quickly track these sidewalks and add them to this year’s project.”
History
As street trees around the city have matured, associated root systems have caused sidewalk panels in many neighborhoods to become potential trip hazards. As such, these panels are being repaired or completely replaced.
The city launched the Sidewalk Repair and Replacement Program in 2022, with hundreds of neighborhood sidewalk panels repaired – and pedestrian safety improved. An online form to report trip hazard locations was launched during the summer of 2022 for the ongoing repair program.
