A television-like overnight police pursuit of a 38-year old woman who stole a Kent Police vehicle ended near the I-90/Sr 18 interchange early Friday morning, August 2, 2019.
The incident began near Kentridge High School around 2:30AM after officers contacted a suspicious man and the woman. The male had an arrest warrant and the two ended up fleeing on foot. The man was caught but while he was being arrested, the woman stole the police patrol vehicle.
The automated vehicle locator system was activated, which showed her heading east on I-90. Multiple police agencies were alerted and the stolen car was located near Snoqualmie Pass around 4AM.
A police pursuit ensued involving multiple agencies on westbound I-90. According to KOMO News the woman ran into a semi near the interchange and was boxed in. She also hit a KCSO vehicle that was helping with the pursuit.
Around 4:30AM, the I-90/SR 18 interchange was closed while Kent PD, Snoqualmie PD, Washington State Patrol and King County Sheriff’s Office dealt with the accident scene on the westbound 90 ramp to SR 18. The interchange was reopened around 6AM.
The woman was arrested. The Kent Patrol vehicle sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene.
