The Northwest Railway Museum will be reconstructing the Main Street railway crossing beginning on Monday, January 21st and, weather permitting, will complete the project by Saturday, January 26th, 2013.
This will result in a temporary road closure of Main Street at McLellan Street. McLellan is where the North Bend Railway Depot is located, behind the North Bend Bar and Grill. Unusual changes in weather conditions may require the project to be rescheduled.
The new crossing will have construction identical to the Bendigo Blvd/SR 202 crossing, which was built in 2000. The new crossing will feature precast concrete panels that will provide a smooth and long lasting driving surface.
Unfortunately, a project of this scale requires a complete road closure. Local businesses will all be accessible from either North Bend Way or Park Street. There will be some disruption to parking on McLellan Street when the existing crossing is demolished, and when the materials for the new crossing are delivered.
This major project has been in planning for nearly two years and is being made possible by a grant from the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission, a tax rebate from the City of North Bend, donated materials from the City of Redmond and retained earnings from the Northwest Railway Museum. Work is being performed by RailWorks, and by local contractors Asphalt by George and Imhoff Crane.
