According to the King County Sheriff’s Office, a 34-year old Redmond man drowned in Rattlesnake Lake on Saturday, July 4, 2015. This makes the second drowning-related death at Rattlesnake in less than a month.
KCSO Sergeant Stan Seo, said the man was with his brother when the two decided to cool off in the lake near the dock around 8PM. The victim’s brother, told police when he showed signs of struggle he pulled his brother out, stating he was only under water for about 30 seconds.
Sgt. Seo said unfortunately the man was pronounced deceased at the scene, but it is unclear at this time if it was a true drowning or another medical issue occurred. Hence, Seo said the King County Medical Examiner would examine the victim.
Sgt. Seo said the two men had been at the lake “eating and drinking… and enjoying the weather and sun.”
On June 11, 2015, a Mount Si High School student also nearly drowned in Rattlesnake Lake after being under water for approximately five minutes. He was rushed to Overlake Medical Center and place in Intensive Care. According to the SnoValley Star, the boy passed away on June 17th.
According to the King County Swimming Beach Monitoring website, during June 2015 Rattlesnake Lake was between 68 – 75 degrees.
