Via press release the City of North Bend said an unfortunate construction delay on the Cedar Landing Home Development Sewer Main Extension project resulted in Stilson Ave/432nd not being fully opened until approximately January 16th.
Due to the new sewer pipe’s location near the road centerline, full road and partial road closure will continue so that construction workers, motorists, and pedestrians are safe.
The city explained that Quadrant Homes and their contractors are working as quickly as possible so Stilson Avenue can be re-opened in its entirety.
As a result, during Opstad Elementary school drop-off and pick-up times between 8:30AM to 9:30AM and 3PM to 4PM, one lane with dedicated flaggers will be opened to allow vehicles, buses, and pedestrian access through the construction zone. Access to Opstad Elementary is also open and now available from Cedar Falls Way SE to the school.
Phase I, which entails gravity sewer construction north of SE 134th Street, is anticipated to be completed by Friday, January 5th. During Phase I, residents located south of SE 134th St. will be detoured to either 436th St via SE 134th St or Maloney Grove Ave SE via SE 140th St.
Signage will also be provided along SE Cedar Falls Way and SE 436th St. Residents living along the affected work zone will have access to and from their homes by flaggers during working hours. During evening and weekend hours, steel plates will be placed on the roadway and the road closure barricades removed.
During Phase II, residents living south of Quadrant Homes project site will be detoured to SE Cedar Falls Way via SE140th St. and Maloney Grove Ave. SE. Residents living along Stilson (south of the development), SE 140th St and Maloney Grove Ave. SE wishing to access Exit 32 or return home will need to utilize Maloney Grove Ave and SE Cedar Falls Way.
Residents located within the affected work zone will be provided with flaggers to access their homes during working hours and steel plates or appropriate patching and detour routes during evenings and weekends. Phase II is anticipated to be completed by January 16th.
