Ross announces City Council campaign, thrown into summer primary to retain seat

After being appointed to the Snoqualmie City Council in early April, council woman Katherine Ross was immediately thrown into an August 1st primary election with candidates Lesley Sheppard and A.J. Tong in order to keep that seat.

Late last week Ross announced her plans to run for election to retain City Council Position 2. Via press release she said she “was honored to be unanimously appointed to the City Council from a pool of 9 candidates in April.”

Ross commented:

“I intend to build upon the City’s accomplishments and bring a fresh perspective to the challenges ahead. As a mother of twins, and passionate community volunteer of 18 years, I have devoted myself to supporting the needs of families and children in our Valley. I wish to strengthen Snoqualmie’s partnership with human service organizations to build a healthier, stronger and more resilient community. This can be accomplished by increasing city revenues through economic development that respects and enhances Snoqualmie as a premier destination and place to live.”

Katherine is also a board member of Encompass, formerly serving as its president. According to her press release, she brings a deep knowledge of the City where she has been a resident for 13 years.

She serves on the City Council Public Safety, Parks and Public Works Committees, as well as City liaison to the YMCA and Snoqualmie Valley Hospital Boards. Ross served on the Snoqualmie Library and Human Services Advisory Committees.

Ross is also a graduate of the Snoqualmie Citizens Academy and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and brings over 17 years of business management experience to the Council position.

Her early endorsements include Mayor Larson and City Council Members Jeans, Holloway, Munden, Prewitt, and Sundwall.
