Summer, sunshine and baseball…. right here in the Snoqualmie Valley. Honkers Baseball is starting a tradition this season.
Semi-pro baseball team, the Northwest Honkers, at last found a home in Fall City – and they throw out their first home field pitch Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 10AM against the Kamloops Sun Devils.
NW Honkers is a member of the Pacific International League (PIL) and is made up of a mix of college-age to ex-professional baseball players. They were founded in 2010 by a group of Seattle area, former collegiate players – and for their five years in existence, had been looking for place to call home.
Earlier this year they found that home when their partnership with the Fall City community – and a home field at Fall City Community Park – was announced.
Honkers manager Jocelyn Lawrence summed up the team in a piece for the Fall City Neighbors Newsletter saying, “A simple passion for the game, along with the urge to continue to compete at a high level, drove the idea to put together the Honkers organization. The Honkers are a team built with a culture that allows young baseball players to thrive and former collegiate players to continue their careers in baseball.”
Jocelyn helps run the team with her husband and Honkers General Manager Martin Lawrence, who was also one of the original founders of NW Honkers Baseball. As they head into their sixth season, the Honkers hope to head back to the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita, Kansas.
The team will play 15-20 summer season home games at Fall City Community Park and is currently working with King County and the Snoqualmie Tribe to make [needed] improvements to the baseball field and stands.
Those improvements are taking a little longer than anticipated, so for tomorrow’s summer season home opener, attendees are encouraged to bring a chair, as stand seating is limited.
Admission is FREE… as is the popcorn. Via email Jocelyn said she hopes fans will bring a cooler and a lawn chair and make a day of it.
Don’t forget your sunscreen either. Temperatures are predicted to get warm. Game time is 10AM. The Honkers summer season runs through August. You can see their full summer season schedule HERE.

Lol. I’ve heard about this team from a friend of mine. After reading your blog, I hope I will have a chance to see them playing baseball in real life.
