ORIGINAL STORY
On Friday, July 21, 2017 at 11:30AM, WSDOT warned drivers that crews had discovered a sinkhole on eastbound I-90 near SR 900 (exit 15) in Issaquah and had closed the right lane in response.
By 1:30PM WSDOT said they had a plan in place for a temporary fix of the hole, but that there was no ETA as to when the work would be complete. A two-mile back up had developed and WSDOT warned drivers to avoid the area and look for alternate routes.
At 3:30PM there was still no ETA for completing the repairs, but WSDOT said crews were working as fast as they could. The eastbound I-90 backup had increased to four miles on a typically busy Friday summer travel day.
WSDOT said as soon as crews had and ETA it would be reported. Drivers were still asked to avoid the area or plan for extra commute/travel time.
