Snoqualmie School Bond Supporters Utilizing Facebook Campaign To Fund Election Recount

** 2/24/11 2nd Update:  Recount Affidavit and Funds were delivered to King County Elections today, February 24th.  The recount is underway.  When more information on recount time line is known, story will be updated.  **

At 11:30AM this morning a SVSD Election Recount Campaign hit Facebook with the goal of raising $1500 to fund a machine recount for the failed February 8th Snoqualmie Valley School Bond.  King County Elections certified the school bond election result this morning – just one vote shy of passing.  According to King County Elections a recount must be initiated by a citizens’ committee and not by the school district.  That committee was formed and fundraising efforts are full steam ahead.

Four short hours after the SVSD Recount Facebook page launched $1415 was raised.  Because of the enormous, positive response the goal was increased to $2500 – to fund the more expensive hand recount.  The recount funds must be raised by Monday, February 28th, to initiate the recount process.

The Facebook Campaign was created by local parent and school supporter, Sean Sundwall.  Sean is a master at event-planning – honing his skills over the years planning many valley fun runs and races for his website  He also organized the local running club, Mt Si Running Club.

The Facebook page and donation process is simple and secure.  The page contains an app to click and donate.  Secure payments are made through PayPal using a credit card. The whole process takes just minutes.

When I started writing this story $1415 had been raised.  After 30 minutes of writing that total increased to $1505.  At this pace the $2500 goal could be reached by 9PM tonight.  Looks like a recount is in the future.
