The Snoqualmie Valley School year is scheduled to being on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, which means more cars will be traveling through the streets of downtown Snoqualmie in the direction of both Mount Si High School campuses and Snoqualmie Elementary School.
Parents and students should plan on road closures the first two days of school if they are accessing the back parking lot of Mount Si High School.
The City of Snoqualmie is currently finishing up road improvements connected to the second phase of its Downtown Rehabilitation and Infrastructure Improvement Project. The paving of those improved roads, some adjacent to the back area of Mount Si, is scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 3rd, possibly lasting until September 5th.
A City of Snoqualmie source says the Project Engineer has been in touch with Mount Si Principal, John Belcher, and SVSD Transportation Director Jim Garhart, who both feel the road closures will be dealt okay If weather is good, the paving might finish early – on Wednesday.
The closure of these side streets could impact student and parent travel times to the high school, as well as parking. Drivers should plan alternate driving routes to the back area of the high school on September 4th and 5th.
Per the City of Snoqualmie, the following roads are scheduled to be closed for paving beginning Tuesday, September 3rd through Thursday, September 5th, WEATHER PERMITTING:
- Falls Ave SE from SE Beta St to SE 90th St
- SE Beta St from Falls Ave SE to Schusman Ave SE
- SE Epsilon St from Falls Ave SE to Schusman Ave SE
- SE 90th St from Falls Ave SE to Railroad Ave SE
All roads will be open for local and emergency access, but closed to through traffic and parking until paving operations are complete. A map and project updates are available on the city’s website at www.cityofsnoqualmie.org
