It’s hard to believe it’s been 5 years since I registered my youngest child for kindergarten. I remember it like it was yesterday. So all you incoming kindergarten moms and dads, I feel the multitude of emotions making their way around the valley today – sadness, excitement, anticipation, relief. Kindergarten registration elicits many emotions from many parents. The most common feeling? If I had to guess it would probably be this: “Could five years really go by this quickly? It seems like I was just bringing them home from the hospital.”
Kindergarten registration is here, though. On Tuesday, March 6th, all five Snoqualmie Valley elementary schools will host two registration sessions. The first session runs from 1:30PM – 3:00PM and the seconds runs 6PM- 7:30PM. Parents are asked to attend one session at their neighborhood’s elementary school and register children starting kindergarten next fall, as well as new students joining SVSD in other elementary grade levels.
To start kindergarten next fall, children must be five years of age by August 31, 2012. Parents will need to bring the following information to enroll their student: birth certificate, immunization history and emergency health and contact information. The Snoqualmie Valley School Board voted on February 9th to keep its current half day kindergarten model intact – making no changes for the 2012-13 school year.
