Kiwanis International is a global community of clubs, members and partners dedicated to improving the lives of children, one community at a time.
The Snoqualmie Valley Kiwanis Club started as a service organization in 1933 and has been in business since that time. The club’s original members were a list of the “who’s who” in the Snoqualmie Valley, says club secretary Harold Erland, a member since 1984.
The Valley Club’s charter number is 1913, with charter clubs numbering more than 20,000. Currently, there are approximately 550,000 members of Kiwanis in 80 countries.
Kiwanis Snoqualmie Valley raises money to support youth and families here in the valley. Funds pay for leadership training, conferences, and scholarships for our high school students; dictionaries for all 3rd graders in the Snoqualmie Valley School District (SVSD); a kindness essay contest for all fifth graders in the SVSD; our annual Giving Tree event for families needing extra support at Christmas, and donations to support local non-profits serving the valley and many more activities.
Says Erland, “Over the years, we’ve had all kinds of projects that helped children in our Valley, and we intend to continue as long as we have kind, caring members to help. Our main fundraiser is selling fireworks and has enabled us to do really good things for the children of the Snoqualmie Valley.”
The Kiwanis fireworks stand in North Bend (opposite QFC on North Bend way) opens June 28th at noon. Here you can buy safe and sane fireworks at the best price in the Valley. The stand is open 9 AM-10 PM from June 29th-July 4th.
When community members purchase fireworks at the stand, they can be assured that the money will stay in the valley and greatly benefit our youth and families. Kiwanis members ask that you please be safe with your fireworks wherever you buy them.
If you love fireworks and are 16 years of age or older, please consider volunteering to help sell fireworks at their stand. No experience is required; they will train you.

It also does very bad things for animals and pets and forces us to leave our homes for a few days. North Bend is not always hard to leave.
