Snoqualmie Valley School Foundation Fundraising Luncheon Chairperson, Susan Kingsbury-Comeau sent out an email of jubilation yesterday. She was thrilled to officially report that this year’s SVSF Small Hands to Big Plans Luncheon held on March 22nd raised $89,000 to support learning in every Snoqualmie Valley School District building. This sets an all-time fundraising record for the foundation, topping last year’s luncheon by over 10%.
“Breaking all previous records sends such a positive message about the resiliency of our community and the desire of individuals to provide our students the kinds of educational opportunities that will truly engage them. We are awed by the generosity of our community and excited this funding will enable us to do so much more for our students and educators in the coming year.” says Kingsbury-Comeau.
Other weekend fundraisers also did well. Local Zumba non-profit, Muvelo Fitness, raised $1,300 for MDA Auggie’s Quest. Zumba instructors led a 2 hour Zumbathon Saturday evening at a full Snoqualmie Elementary School gymnasium. The Hoops For Hope Fundraiser lead by Eastside Women of Vision raised $10,000 to help fight HIV/AIDS in Africa. Lots of kids showed up at Cascade View Elementary School Saturday ready to make shots to support the local non-profit. The Mount Si High School ASB Fundraiser also had a great turn-out for its annual event at Si View Community Center.
The Murder Medium Rare Mystery Dinner went off without a hitch at Boxley’s Saturday evening. The interactive dinner raised money for Valley Center Stage in North Bend. Actress Leslie Cranwill said Boxley’s was full, the silent auction raised $1000 and “it was the most fun she’s ever had.” Final fundraising totals are not known yet.
Last but not least, Sunday evening was capped off by the 1st Annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser for the Mt. Si Food Bank. The event was a sell out, seeing numerous local families turn out to fight hunger in Snoqualmie Valley at the Si View Community Center. 250 attendees went home with bowls made and donated by Snoqualmie Valley middle and high school students – still waiting on a final fundraising total for this event.

I’m guessing you meant Mt. Si Food Bank and not ‘Band’ right?
Thanks, Jack! Spell check wouldn’t have caught this one:)
Danna, I mispoke about the increase — we have seen a 27% increase in giving at this year’s luncheon over last year’s!!! Wow are we a caring community.
