Many Snoqualmie Valley residents noticed a lot of police activity Sunday morning, July 23, 2017, as officers were apparently en route to the lower Valley in response to an emergency situation. Late Sunday night, the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) reported the reason for the heavy response.
KCSO said just before 6AM on Sunday, dispatchers received a frantic 911 call from a woman, saying she’ just escaped from her boyfriend after he had kidnapped and assaulted her. She explained that he had kidnapped her from the Everett area around 2AM and then took her to a home in the 20200 block of West Snoqualmie River Road where the assault occurred. She was able to escape, steal his car and flee before calling 911.
Deputies were immediately dispatched and made contact with the victim, learning the suspect, a 20-year old male, lived at the home where the victim had escaped. She also reported that he had been involved in a shooting the night before somewhere in Snohomish County – and was still armed, but alone, when she escaped.
KCSO called in SWAT and Hostage Negotiating Team members who began attempting communications with the man. It took about about 3.5 hours before the suspect finally surrendered peacefully.
The female victim, also in her 20’s , was transported to a local hospital and treated for injuries. She is expected to make a full recovery.
The suspect was booked into King County Jail and may face charges that include assault and unlawful imprisonment. KCSO Detectives are currently working with Snohomish County officers regarding the Saturday night shooting the suspect may have been involved in.
