The Snoqualmie Police Department said on Sunday, June 28, 2015 around 11:30PM, SPD Officer (in service of North Bend) Cary discovered a suspicious vehicle at the North Bend Outlet Mall. As he followed and monitored the car for possible criminal activity (i.e. casing stores), the driver sped off and entered westbound I-90 at a high rate of speed.
When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the front passenger fired multiple rounds at his squad car. Fortunately, Officer Cary was not injured and there was no bullet damage to the SPD vehicle.
According to a press release, Officer Cary pursued the suspect vehicle through downtown Issaquah. The pursuit finally ended on a dead-end, residential street near the May Valley and Issaquah Hobart Roads and Tiger Mountain.
All four suspects were taken into custody without incident with the help of King County’s Guardian 1 helicopter and the KCSO SWAT Team. Guardian 1 utilized its infrared technology to help track the suspects who had fled on foot and hid after leading officers on the high speed chase. The Snoqualmie Police Department reported there was also an infant in the vehicle, but that none of the suspects, the infant nor the SPD officer was injured in the pursuit and subsequent arrest.
All of the vehicle’s occupants were booked into King County Jail on various charges and the 9-month old baby was placed with Child Protective Services.
The 24-year old female driver and mother of the infant will be charged with rendering criminal assistance and felony alluding. The 20-year old passenger and father of the child will be charged with 1st degree assault with a deadly weapon, drug and weapons violations and reckless endangerment of the child. Two 19-year old passengers will also be charged with obstructing.
