SVSD Elementary School Boundary Change Options Announced

Since passing a school bond last February that included funds to build SVSD’s 6th elementary school, district officials have stated a boundary revision would be needed to populate the new school.

In addition, the district says it needs to adjust student enrollment between the elementary schools and plan for anticipated growth as state-funded full day kindergarten and class size reductions for grades K-3 begin next year. Because of these factors, more space at all elementary schools is needed for the 2016-17 school year.

According to district communications, a committee carefully considered elementary enrollment data, growth projections, student demographics, program needs, transportation logistics and “feeder” opportunities into middle schools – all while also striving for a boundary solution that keeps students in the general area in which their families reside: North Bend, Snoqualmie, or Fall City.

Five initial elementary boundary options were announced on September 30, 2015. Each is followed by future classroom capacity data. The district has a SURVEY open until noon on October 7th where parents can leave feedback on the boundary options.

You can also learn more about each option on the SVSD website, including viewing maps of the new boundary zones.

The week of October 12th the district will announce a revised boundary option list and open a second survey.  Community meetings are also planned to gather more feedback.  A boundary recommendation will be presented to the school board on October 29th.

The boundary change will also support a middle school feeder system when the district returns to three middle schools in 2019. The feeder schools will be:

  • Elem 6 and FCES students to attend Chief Kanim Middle School (CKMS)
  • OES and NBES students to attend Twin Falls Middle School (TFMS)
  • SES and CVES students to attend Snoqualmie Middle School (SMS)
