The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is warning drivers of a weekend closure of SR 18 between Snoqualmie and Hobart that has the potential to create delays on nearby detour routes – including I-90, SR 900 and I-405.
WSDOT maintenance crews will fully close SR 18 between I-90 and Issaquah-Hobart Road from 10PM, Friday, September 20th, to noon Sunday, September 22nd. Signed detours will be in place.
The around-the-clock closure will give crews space to safely perform maintenance activities including asphalt and guardrail repair, brush removal for improved sight distance and scupper cleaning near the Tiger Mountain Summit.
What is scupper cleaning you ask? It’s the drains that collect road sludge that filters through expansion joints – a pretty dirty job according to WSDOT crews, but one they say somebody has to do.
Travelers who use SR 18 should plan for delays on alternate routes like I-90, I-405, SR 167, SR 900 and local roads
