UPDATE | JANUARY 23RD, 6:30AM
Traffic through downtown Snoqualmie experienced significant delays (up to 15 minutes), Thursday, January 22nd, due water main installation work – and the city says these types of back ups are a possibility in the coming week. Water main work appears to be taking a week longer than first announced. Using alternate routes, especially during school start/dismissal times, is advised.
From Snoqualmie Public Information Officer, Joan Pliego:
“The work [water main] will be between 7AM and 5PM between until Friday January 30th. Alternative routes through town are(1) I-90 eastbound take exit 27 to North Bend Way to Meadowbrook Way to Railroad Ave SE or (2) Mill Pond Road to Meadowbrook Way through the Meadowbrook bridge to Railroad Ave SE. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and are doing everything we can to expedite the construction downtown.”
ORIGINAL STORY
As the City of Snoqualmie continues works on a Downtown Infrastructure and Improvement Project, some more lane closures could cause traffic congestion from Thursday, January 15th – Friday, 23rd, 2015.
The major infrastructure upgrade project involves installing water mains and water services in the downtown corridor and will require one-lane road closures on Railroad Ave.
Traffic flaggers will control two-way traffic flow between Newton Street and Northern Street.
During other recent construction lane closures on Railroad Ave for this Infrastructure Project, the traffic backups were most noticeable during SVSD school start (7AM-9AM) and dismissal times (2PM – 4PM).
Residents can bypass the closure by using Millpond Road or by using I-90.
Railroad Ave Planned Closure Times
- January 15th – 16th, 7AM – 4PM
- January 20th – 23rd, 7AM – 4PM
- Railroad Ave SE between SE Newton ST and SE Northern ST
- January 20th – 23rd, 8PM – 5AM (night hours)
- Railroad Ave SE between SE Newton ST and SE Northern ST
The Downtown Improvement project is estimated to be complete in May 2015.
