At a special meeting Thursday night, April 13, 2017, the Snoqualmie City Council filled two council seats that became open when Chelley Patterson moved and with the unfortunate passing of Charles Peterson.
The council appointed Katherine Ross for Council Position 2 and Sean Sundwall for Council Position 6. Both were sworn into office and began their service immediately.
The City of Snoqualmie received applications from nine Snoqualmie residents for Position 2, all of whom were interviewed by City Council members at a special meeting on April 10th. The field was narrowed to four candidates who were invited for second interviews on April 13th. A council executive session followed the second round of interviews where a unanimous vote named Ms. Ross to Position 2.
Due to the very recent and unfortunate passing of Council Member Charles Peterson, that left Position 6 vacant, the City Council went into a second executive session to consider appointment of one of the remaining three candidates. They voted unanimously for Mr. Sundwall to fill Peterson’s position.
The term of these positions will expire after the results of the November 2017 general election are certified.

Sundwall is a good man.
Being hand picked by the City Council would seem to guarantee their support of the Mayor and Council on the currently on-going initiatives, including the poorly located Hotel. Let’s hope that’s not the case.

I agree, council members that are selected by incumbents will have a hard time being re-elected.
Definitely seems like an incestuous arrangement with the council getting to choose the new members. Between the board and mayor lately, I expect to vote for against all incumbents.
I believe if they wish to continue past this year, they have to run in the November 2017 election.
