The City of Snoqualmie announced it is accepting applications from Snoqualmie residents to fill a vacancy on City Council.
Position 2 on the seven-member council is open following the resignation of Council Member Chelley Patterson, who stated earlier this year she will be moving.
The term of the position will commence once a candidate is appointed by a majority vote of the City Council. It expires after the results of the November 2017 general election are certified.
If the person appointed wishes to remain on council after the election, they will have to also be on the November ballot.
Residents interested in applying for the Council vacancy must have resided in the City of Snoqualmie for at least one year prior to Council appointment and must be registered to vote in the City of Snoqualmie.
Following submission of applications by the April 6th deadline and review by City Council Members, candidates will be interviewed on April 10th.
According to a city press release, if the council decides to vote on April 10th to pick the candidate, the candidate will be sworn in that evening and will begin to serve on the Council immediately. If they Council does not choose a candidate on April 10th, they will do so on May 8th.

Positions on General Election Ballot for the City of Snoqualmie
The ballot for the 2017 general election will include Snoqualmie City Council positions 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7, as well as mayor. Mayor Larson is running for re-election, as well as former mayor Fuzzy Fletcher.
Council members Holloway, Jeans, Prewitt, have all stated their intentions to seek re-election. At Monday’s city council meeting, Heather Munden announced she will not seek re-election, which leaves position 5 an open seat.
Online candidate filing is available starting May 15th, 2017 at 9AM and ending May 19th, 2017 at 4PM. Information about filing to be a candidate is at www.kingcounty.gov/elections.
