Work continues in downtown Snoqualmie on a big remodeling project that will bring infrastructure improvements and a new boardwalk adjacent the historic railroad tracks. For six weeks the work will close two blocks of a neighborhood street. Meanwhile, the City of North Bend announced last week that land clearing has commenced on a 8.5 acre parcel of land on Bendigo Blvd that may become home to a new hotel.
Six Week Snoqualmie Road Closure
There will be a street closure on SE Fir Street, between Railroad Ave SE and Maple Ave SE starting Monday, August 18, at 7AM, one that will stretch until Tuesday, September 30, at 5PM.
The closure is part of the downtown Snoqualmie Infrastructure and Improvement. While Fir Street is closed, steel casings for the sanitary sewer main, water main, and the storm sewer drainage will be installed. Street closure and detour signs will be in place during the closure.
New features and/or improvements in the downtown core include:
- new water main, water services, sanitary sewer system and storm drainage system
- road paving
- illumination system
- new curb, gutter, sidewalk, curb bulbs, street furniture, signage, and gateway treatments
- installation of a boardwalk
- landscaping and irrigation
- moving power, cable, and phone lines underground
- property restoration
- preservation of legacy trees

Land Clearing, Grading Starts at North Bend Outlet Mall Intersection
The City of North Bend announced that beginning the week of August 11th-15th, NBK, LLC – North Bend Project will start work on a property at the southeast corner of the Bendigo Boulevard South and South Fork Avenue SW intersection.
The contractor will clear and grade nearly 4 of the 8.5 acre land parcel, with the remaining uncleared acreage becoming an open space tract.
The city said in the announcement that the applicant obtained all local, state and federal permits and is now cleared to proceed with clearing, grading and drainage system work.
Later in 2014, the developer is expected to submit a mixed use commercial building development permit application for site. The City of North Bend would have to review and approve that permit application.
According to the city, in 2015 “the applicant plans to start construction on the two lots, developing them as Multi Use / Multi Story Building(s) to accommodate hotels, restaurants, meeting facilities, parking, landscaping and storm water facilities.”
